Carl A. Scott Book Scholarship
We are pleased to announce that the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) will award two Carl A. Scott Book Scholarships in the amount of $500 each for the 2019–2020 academic year.
Awarding these annual scholarship prizes fulfills the initial programmatic objective that the Carl A. Scott Memorial Fund embraced shortly after it was set up by the CSWE Board of Directors in 1986. The Fund honors the memory of the late Carl A. Scott, a longtime staff member of CSWE and a pioneer in obtaining scholarships for students of color. Specifically, the Carl A. Scott Memorial Fund was developed to continue Scott’s legacy of promoting equity and social justice in social work. In this regard, it is intended that the book scholarships will be awarded to students who have demonstrated a commitment to work for equity and social justice in social work.
The awards will be made to students who will be in their last year of study at the time of the award (fall 2019) for a social work degree in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program accredited by CSWE.
